| La Tyre is the flagship cuvée of Château Montus in Madiran, produced from a steep single vineyard of around ten hectares planted exclusively with Tannat. The parcel sits on a plateau of rolled pebbles over red clay, fully exposed to the sun and swept by Pyrenean winds, giving naturally low yields and highly concentrated grapes. After meticulous hand-picking the wine undergoes a long maceration and ages 14–16 months in 100% new French oak before extended bottle ageing. The bouquet is intense, with black fruits, plum and kirsch alongside tobacco, cocoa, licorice and fine toast. On the palate La Tyre is deep, powerful and complex, with refined tannins, vibrant freshness and a very long, tightly knit finish. | |
