Château Tour Maillet
On the siliceous-gravel soils of the lieu-dit Maillet in Pomerol, Château Tour Maillet crafts a rare, single‑varietal Merlot that speaks with poise rather than volume.
The Lagardère family story reaches back to the years after World War I, when Pierre Lagardère began building a foothold in Pomerol; today Jean‑Claude and Gaël combine inherited know‑how with temperature control and meticulous lot work. With just 2.2 hectares, hand harvesting and strict sorting are non‑negotiable, followed by a cool pre‑fermentation soak and gentle extraction to shape tannin, line and length.
Ageing for about twelve months in French barrels, split between new and one‑year wood, is used as seasoning, not a signature—aimed at balance, texture and longevity, so the terroir remains the headline, vintage after vintage.Château Tour Maillet
