Discover the Character of Ch. Lafite Rothschild Pauillac
Château Lafite Rothschild is one of the iconic First Growths of Pauillac, with about 112 hectares of vines. The vineyards lie on deep gravel mounds with limestone subsoils around the château, on the Carruades plateau and in selected plots in neighbouring Saint-Estèphe. Cabernet Sauvignon dominates the plantings, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, and the average vine age comfortably exceeds thirty years. The bouquet is subtle and cool, showing cassis, red berries and plum with violet, cedar, tobacco and a distinctive, iron-tinged minerality. On the palate Lafite Rothschild is both silky and powerful, with ultra-fine tannins, precise acidity and a very long, layered finish. It is widely regarded as the benchmark for graceful, ageworthy Pauillac.
