Ch.Lascombes Margaux – An experience for true connoisseurs
Château Lascombes is a Second Growth in Margaux and, with around 120 hectares under vine, one of the largest vineyards in the appellation. The vines are planted on a patchwork of gravel-rich soils mixed with sand and clay that store warmth while providing excellent drainage. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot dominate the plantings, with the exact proportions varying slightly from vintage to vintage. After careful hand-picking, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled tanks, followed by maturation in French oak barrels, a high percentage of them new. The bouquet reveals deep black fruit, black cherry and plum with notes of chocolate, coffee, vanilla and smoke. On the palate Lascombes is full-bodied and opulent yet structured, with dense, ripe tannins and a rich, almost sweet core of fruit. The long, spicy finish brings together power and generosity with the velvety texture that has become a hallmark of this Margaux estate.
