The vines grow on weathered paragneiss soils with loess, which lend the wine tension, spice and salty minerality. On the nose it opens with ripe apple, yellow pear, tobacco notes, white pepper, dried herbs and a hint of citrus peel. On the palate this Smaragd is powerful and dense yet precise, carried by juicy acidity and a creamy texture. Flavours of stone fruit, apple, herbs, fine pepper and wet stone stretch into a long, driving finish.
