Bladnoch

Just off the River Bladnoch in Scotland, Bladnoch begins in 1817—later hailed as the “Queen of the Lowlands,” then mothballed, and finally brought back to life with spirit running again from 2017.

River water meets long fermentation in Douglas‑fir washbacks before copper pot stills lift a clean Lowland new make. After entrepreneur David Prior acquired the site in 2015, Master Distiller Dr Nick Savage (since 2019) sharpened the house style with confident cut points and a taste‑first philosophy.

Cask work finishes the story: ex‑Bourbon barrels, Sherry casks and carefully judged oak variations build depth while keeping the distillery’s line intact. Bottled with natural colour and often non‑chill filtered, Bladnoch proves the Lowlands can be bold without ever raising its voice.
