Château Montrose is an iconic Second Growth in Saint-Estèphe, perched on a slope overlooking the Gironde estuary. Its 95-hectare single-block vineyard lies on deep gravel over clay, a classic Médoc terroir that combines superb drainage with steady water reserves. Cabernet Sauvignon dominates the plantings, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot from mature vines. Vineyard work follows sustainable, highly precise practices and harvesting is done by hand. The bouquet offers blackcurrant, blackberry and dark cherry with cedar, tobacco, graphite and spice. On the palate Montrose is powerful and dense yet remarkably cool and focused, with firm, ripe tannins, vibrant freshness and a very long, resonant finish.
