| Ch. Langoa Barton Saint-Julien – The Essence of True Craftsmanship | |
| Château Langoa Barton is a historic Third Growth in Saint-Julien that has belonged to the Barton family since 1821. Its roughly 18 to 20 hectares of vines lie on classic gravel-clay soils close to the Gironde and are planted mainly with Cabernet Sauvignon, completed by Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Average vine age is around thirty-five years, with some parcels dating back to the 1950s. Sustainable viticulture, traditional ploughing without herbicides and hand harvesting set the tone in the vineyard. Fermentation takes place in large wooden vats before the wine is matured for about eighteen months in French oak barrels, a high proportion of them new. The bouquet offers cassis, red and black cherry, violet, tobacco and cedar. On the palate Langoa Barton is straight and classically built, with firm but refined tannins, bright acidity and a long, balanced finish that reflects the estate’s cool, restrained Saint-Julien style. | |
