Domaines Alain Brumont
At the foothills of the Pyrenees in Südwest Frankreich, Domaines Alain Brumont reshaped Madiran with a decisive sequence of moves: Bouscassé came to Alain Brumont in 1979, Château Montus followed in 1980, and the region’s Tannat suddenly had a new benchmark.
The two estates speak in different textures—Bouscassé on clay‑limestone slopes, Montus on gravelly hill crests scattered with reddish stones, remnants of ancient mountain geology. High vine density, strict hand harvesting and parcel selection sharpen the silhouette; in the 1990s, further top sites such as La Tyre were added to the story.
Cellar work favours depth without heaviness: extended macerations, controlled extraction and élevage in French oak to weave tannin into a firm, elegant frame. Madiran, here, feels monumental yet precise—built on soil, time and uncompromising intent.Domaines Alain Brumont
