| Galatrona from Fattoria Petrolo is regarded as a Merlot “grand cru” of Val d’Arno di Sopra, sourced from a single vineyard at around three hundred metres on clay-rich, stony soils. The nose delivers concentrated aromas of blackberry, black cherry and wild berries, layered with cocoa, tobacco, spice and a delicate floral touch. On the palate the wine is powerful yet silky, with great density, polished, fine-grained tannins and vibrant, perfectly balanced acidity. Extended maturation in French barriques brings further complexity without masking the strong sense of place. The finish is deep, multi-layered and marked by dark fruit and minerality.
