On the gravel crests of St.Julien, close to the Gironde, Connetable Talbot carries the second label of a 4ème Grand Cru Classé with a famously steady hand. Created in the 1970s as one of the Médoc’s early second wines, it mirrors the estate’s discipline while speaking in a more immediate register.
The vineyard is a rare, coherent block—over 100 hectares—built on alluvial gravels that favour Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot adding breadth where clay and sand appear. Harvest decisions are parcel by parcel, selections increasingly strict, so only the lots with the right balance move forward.
