| Roger Manceaux Extra Brut made from pure Meunier grows on chalk rich slopes around Rilly la Montagne and captures the distinctive character of this often underestimated grape. In the glass it shines deep gold with light amber hints and a very fine bead of bubbles. The bouquet reveals yellow peach in syrup, green mango, passion fruit and citrus peel over a subtle layer of brioche and chalk. On the palate the Champagne is focused and juicy yet firm, the low dosage sharpening its freshness and mineral drive. Ripe fruit is tightly woven into a creamy, savoury texture that never feels heavy. A characterful Blanc de Noirs that works beautifully as an aperitif or alongside white fish and delicate poultry. | |
