Montes
At the foot of the Andes, where vineyards seem to shine in Chile’s hard light, Montes has shaped a modern classic in the Colchagua Valley. Founded in 1988—after the first harvest in 1987—the team led by Aurelio Montes set out early to redefine Chilean fine wine with ambition and discipline.
In Apalta, a natural amphitheatre of hillside parcels, gravelly and granitic soils meet cooling evening winds. Parcel work, precise water management and a sustainability-minded approach guide Carmenère, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah toward ripe balance. In the cellar, gravity flow, carefully judged extraction and measured oak build structure while keeping energy and clarity intact.
The signature is visionary without being loud: Chile as provenance with depth, carried by technique, landscape and the long patience of a house that treats innovation as part of tradition.Montes
