Suntory
Guided by the cadence of the seasons, Suntory in Japan builds a gin around “Shun”—the moment when botanicals are at their peak. At the Liquor Atelier inside the Osaka Spirits & Liqueurs Craft Distillery, a diverse set of stills allows the team to choose the right technique for each plant, a mindset rooted in the House founded in 1899.
Six unmistakably Japanese botanicals—sakura flower and leaf, sencha and gyokuro teas, sanshō pepper and yuzu peel—meet eight traditional gin botanicals in a carefully layered blend. Rather than forcing everything through one run, components are distilled with methods suited to their character, then composed for balance. In 2025 the IWSC recognized the Osaka craft distillery as “Liqueur Producer of the Year,” underscoring that obsessive Monozukuri craft.Suntory
