| Vollenweider Riesling Wolfer Goldgrube Spätlese comes from steep slate terraces along the Mosel river. The vines grow in the Wolfer Goldgrube site, where weathered Devonian slate lends the wine cool minerality and great finesse. On the nose it offers lemon oil, ripe apricot, yellow plum, light honey and a hint of smoke and herbs. On the palate the Spätlese is concentrated and juicy yet almost weightless, carried by crystal-clear acidity and fine natural sweetness. Flavours of yellow stone fruit, citrus, slate spice and a touch of herbal tea echo for a long time and remain very focused. A characterful, ageworthy Mosel Riesling that pairs beautifully with blue cheese, exotically spiced dishes or fruit-based desserts. | |
