Gager

Between Pannonian warmth and cooling night air, Deutschkreutz is home to Weingut Gager in the heart of Mittelburgenland, where Blaufränkisch speaks most clearly. Founded as a family venture in 1984, the estate built its reputation on serious reds and later anchored its ambitions with a modern cellar and a deep barrique library.

Vineyards are worked parcel by parcel and harvested selectively, aiming for ripe tannins and natural balance rather than sheer power. In the winery, gentle extraction, temperature-controlled fermentations and a disciplined use of oak—large casks and French barriques—shape structure while keeping the fruit’s core intact.

The house style feels architectural: compact, composed and persistent, carrying the signature of a region that stores heat in its soils yet delivers tension in every line.
