Il Macchione

In Le Caggiole near Montepulciano—one of the most prized corners for Vino Nobile—Il Macchione in Tuscany keeps its scale small, and its standards exacting.

The Abram brothers arrived from Trentino and took over the podere in 2005, with the first harvest following in 2007, building the estate around a simple motto: “tutto il tempo che serve”. About seven hectares are farmed, roughly six dedicated to Prugnolo Gentile (Sangiovese), tended block by block with high planting density and vines ranging from young plantings to decades-old rows.

In the cellar, time becomes structure: spontaneous ferments, gentle extraction and long élevage—split between tonneaux and larger oak—shape texture without masking origin. The result is a Vino Nobile defined by clarity of place and quiet authority, made for evolution rather than immediacy.
