La Mauny
In southern Martinique, Maison La Mauny has sat in Rivière-Pilote since 1749, surrounded by sugarcane like a green amphitheatre—and that is where its AOC rhum agricole begins. Fresh cane juice is fermented promptly, then lifted through a tall Creole column still, distilled once with terroir in mind: grassy brightness, citrus snap and finely etched esters, all shaped by a humid coastal microclimate.
The house is known for a drier, sculpted profile, helped by maturation in ex-cognac casks alongside other oak. Tropical ageing (élevage sous bois) concentrates wood spice, toasted notes and candied fruit without drowning the cane’s freshness. In the chais, blending is a quiet craft of toast levels and time. Sip it neat for a true cane-field impression, or let it bring structure to a classic Daiquiri or a poised Ti’ Punch.La Mauny
