Les Pagodes de Cos

In St.Estephe, where Cos d’Estournel’s pagodas fire the imagination, Les Pagodes de Cos was created in 1994 as the château’s second wine – an invitation into the style of a 2ème Grand Cru Classé of the 1855 classification, without lowering the bar of selection.

Grapes come from clearly identified plots with mature vines on average, harvested in several passes to balance tannin ripeness and freshness. Cabernet Sauvignon supplies the backbone, Merlot shapes supple lines, with small touches of the classic Bordeaux varieties. Gravel and clay underlayers lend energy and a distinctly Saint‑Estèphe sense of frame.

In the cellar, the same precision guides every step: careful fermentations, judicious use of French oak barriques and patient élevage until the structure settles into place. Les Pagodes de Cos therefore reads like a wine with its own voice – elegant, architectural and marked by the captivating, far‑horizon spirit of its grand estate.
