Grattamacco
On the Tuscan coast Grattamacco sits high above Bolgheri—founded in 1977 and, since 2002, part of the ColleMassari family. With vineyards rising between 100 and 200 metres, the estate builds freshness where many expect only sun.
White clays, sandy quartz and marly limestone flysch shape a cool, bright tension. Grattamacco was among the early believers in Vermentino here, alongside Sangiovese and Bordeaux varieties; keeping Sangiovese in the blend remains a deliberate choice, preserving lift and architectural line.
Hand harvesting, low yields and a respectful approach in the cellar favour clarity: careful extraction, measured élevage in large wood, and time in bottle to knit the structure. Grattamacco tells Bolgheri as precision rather than power—clean contours, mineral backbone, and calm depth.Grattamacco
