Domaine de L'Ostal Cazes
At the foot of the Montagne Noire in Languedoc-Roussillon, Domaine de L'Ostal Cazes began in 2002 as a Bordeaux family’s search for a southern grand terroir.
Jean-Michel Cazes of Château Lynch-Bages united two neighbouring estates around La Livinière into a 150-hectare domain with 60 hectares of vines and olive groves. “Ostal” in Occitan means both ‘house’ and ‘family group’-a fitting name for a place rebuilt through replanting, drainage and strict parcel selection. Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Carignan are vinified plot by plot in cement and steel-clad vats with precise temperature control, before ageing in French oak.
The soils alternate compact limestone and sandy marl, capturing water and pushing roots deep; sunny days are cooled by winds from the ridges, creating an even ripening rhythm. Certified High Environmental Value (level 3) since 2019, the estate delivers Minervois La Livinière with poise: power disciplined by structure, a modern southern silhouette.Domaine de L'Ostal Cazes
