This Barolo from Giuseppe Contratto comes from a historic Piedmont estate famed for its cellars and elegant wines since the nineteenth century. Nebbiolo grapes from hillside vineyards around the village of Barolo are vinified in a traditional style with extended maceration and ageing in large oak casks. The bouquet offers dried cherry, rose petals, tar, tobacco and subtle balsamic notes. On the palate the wine is silky and layered, driven by lively, mature acidity and fine, persistent tannins. It is a beautifully evolved Barolo that pairs wonderfully with braised meats, game dishes, aged cheeses or rich pasta with truffle.
