Sangiovese, traditionell auch Sangioveto genannt, ist die prägende rote Rebsorte Mittelitaliens und das Herz vieler großer Weine aus der Toskana. Sie steht für Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano und zahlreiche regionale Rotweine, kommt aber auch in anderen Teilen Italiens vor.Typisch sind rote Kirsche, Pflaume, Kräuter, Veilchen, Tabak, Leder und eine spürbar lebendige Säure.
